Winter 20/21

With the days getting shorter and the shadows getting longer our thoughts start to turn towards the winter season. This year brings its own obvious challenges and questions. I thought, perhaps naively, that following our early finish to last season we’d be back on track at the start of the 2020/21 season.

Following swift and decisive action from the Italian government at an early stage, the daily infection rate began to fall at the end of March and subsequently it’s been managed well. We continue to see it at levels lower than other European countries, this despite the country coming through the busy August holiday period.

This bodes well for the winter season but we do live in strange, fluid times so we’ll keep half an eye on the daily infections rate whilst keeping everything we have crossed. Personally I’m optimistic that we’ll have skiing albeit with almost inevitable changes and restrictions. What those restrictions and changes turn out to be remains to be seen.

Vialattea usually holds a press conference at the end of October where they announce all the news relating to the new season. I’m not sure that we’ll hear anything before then. As soon as any news is announced though we’ll let you all know.

From our own perspective bookings have started to come in which is encouraging. We have amended our booking terms and conditions to address COVID-19. Any booking made through sauzeonline for ski hire and or ski school will be fully refundable if the resort is closed due to another outbreak or if the government of the country where you travel from imposes travel restrictions for Italy. You can read our full T&C’s here https://www.sauzeonline.com/shop/terms-and-conditions/

We sincerely hope to see you on the slopes this winter.
