New Year, new snow.

Happy New Year everyone. It seems that not only have we recently waved goodbye to 2015 but we’ve also waved goodbye to the high pressure that was dominating the weather for the last month of the old year.

The snow has been on the radar for sometime and I’m glad to say that the forecast hasn’t let us down. We woke this morning to light snow which progressively got heavier throughout the day. At the time of writing this (16:30 local time) it has now stopped. In total we got about 6cm today in the village.

It is forecast to continue intermittently for the foreseeable future. Sunday should be light cloud with the snow returning during the evening and through into Monday morning. Tuesday is then forecast to have scattered cloud with no precipitation. The snow should return on Wednesday and Thursday before clearing again on Friday. This forecast can obviously change so we’ll keep a close eye on it.

For now there is no word of additional runs opening and in my opinion it will take a good sustained snow fall for that to change. You have to remember that for the majority of runs this is the first snow they have seen. We are all hoping that this week really delivers but we just have to take each day as it comes.

Links to other resorts remain closed and skiing in Sauze is still limited to Red11. We have 2 chairlifts open, the main Sportinia one and Lago Nero. The amount of snow that fell today is certainly not enough to make a huge difference but hopefully the combined amount that we’ll get this week will. It remains to be seen if anymore slopes or lifts will open but I’m hopeful that the lift company will work hard at delivering us more skiing.

The situation is fluid so stay tuned via social media. As soon as I have any news on fresh openings I’ll post it there first as it’s quicker to get the news out. At the bottom of each webpage you can view the latest offerings from all the different social media channels.
