Fresh snow for Sauze

After over 24 hrs of snow just about everyone in the village was eager to get on the first lift this morning. It’s the biggest snow fall we’ve had since the season began with around 50cm of snow in places.

A combination of high wind, poor visibility and avalanche risk restricted the skiing to just Sauze but at last the off piste through the trees was back on the agenda.

The sun did try and breakthrough in the afternoon but despite this it’s snowed all day. It has currently stopped but the village is still wrapped in a blanket of cloud. This is due to break up tomorrow lunch time and then hopefully we’ll have sun for the rest of week with the temperature remaining low.

It’s hard to groom the slopes when it snowing so the pistes today were a combination of almost off piste conditions and mounds of fresh snow. In some areas the snow on the pistes was just below the knee. If no more snow falls this evening it’ll give the cat drivers the opportunity to get the slopes nicely prepared overnight so tomorrow should be a great day.

It’s not as if we were desperate for snow but this is certainly very welcome!
