This sport has a long history in this area. In 1980 the great alpine climber Gian Carlo Grassi published the first climbing guide to the Susa Valley and in 1985 Bardonecchia, just down the road from Sauze, hosted the first international climbing competition.
The valley has an exhaustive supply of climbs ranging in levels. The ‘Parete dei Milti’ offers a trial marked by famous climbers where as the ‘Parete di Gravere is among the most challenging climbs in Italy. Chiamonte and Exilles are two places renowned for bouldering, a sport which test the climbers agility, strength technique.
